NEXUS NIGHT: Riftbound League of Legends TCG Origins Tournament
Riftbound League of Legends Trading Card Game just hit shelves, and Canada’s Collectible Games is wasting no time. We’re hosting Nexus Night, our first Riftbound tournament, on November 22nd at 3 PM. If you’ve picked up the new game or have been curious about it, this is your chance to play with others and see what the buzz is about.
Why Now is the Perfect Time
Here’s the thing about brand new trading card games – everyone’s on equal footing. Nobody has years of experience or refined meta decks yet. We’re all learning together, experimenting with different strategies, and discovering card combinations. That makes this tournament particularly exciting. You might build something nobody else has thought of yet. The Origins set is the foundation of Riftbound, and players are just starting to explore what’s possible.
About Riftbound
Riftbound brings League of Legends to the tabletop as a fully-realized trading card game. The artwork is gorgeous, featuring champions like Ahri, Yasuo, and Jinx in detailed card form. The gameplay itself has some fresh ideas that set it apart from other TCGs. If you’re already a League of Legends fan, you’ll recognize the characters and themes. If you’re new to League but enjoy card games, Riftbound stands on its own as a solid game system.
Tournament Details
Entry is $10, and we’ll have prizes for top finishers. Since this is one of the first Riftbound tournaments anywhere, you’re getting in on the ground floor of what could become a major competitive scene. We’re expecting both curious newcomers and dedicated TCG players who want to master the next big game.
Our Location
Find us at 33 Carriage House Dr, Suite B in Jackson, Tennessee. Our store has dedicated gaming space with comfortable seating and good lighting – important for those longer tournament sessions.
What to Bring
You’ll need a legal Riftbound deck built according to the Origins format rules. If you’re unsure about deck construction or what’s tournament-legal, call us at 731-240-1105 and we’ll walk you through it. Bring sleeves to protect your cards, and any dice or tokens you use for tracking. We recommend arriving 15-20 minutes early for registration.
Building the Community
One of the best parts of a new game launch is watching the community form. Right now, Riftbound players are connecting online, sharing deck ideas, and figuring out the competitive scene. Nexus Night is Jackson’s contribution to that growing community. You’ll meet other local players, exchange ideas, and maybe find regular opponents for future games. Some of the best friendships in gaming start at tournament tables.
No Experience Required
Never played in a TCG tournament before? That’s completely fine. Since Riftbound itself is brand new, you won’t be the only one. We’ll explain the tournament structure, answer rule questions, and make sure everyone understands how rounds work. The goal is for everyone to have fun and get multiple games in. Yes, there are prizes, but mostly we want people to enjoy playing Riftbound in a organized setting.
What Makes Riftbound Different
Without getting too deep into mechanics, Riftbound has some interesting design choices. The way champions level up, the region-based deck building, and the combat system all feel distinct. If you’ve played other TCGs, you’ll notice Riftbound borrows good ideas while adding its own spin. The learning curve isn’t steep, but there’s enough depth to keep things interesting as the game develops.
Looking Ahead
This tournament is just the beginning. If Nexus Night goes well – and we think it will – we’ll run more Riftbound events. Maybe weekly casual play, maybe monthly tournaments, maybe both. That depends on turnout and what the community wants. For now, we’re focused on making November 22nd a great introduction to competitive Riftbound in Jackson.
