This September, the road rises up to meet Magic: The Gathering players right here at Canada’s Collectible Games. On Saturday, September 19th at 11 AM, we’re hosting a Commander Party celebrating the long-awaited crossover between Magic: The Gathering and The Hobbit — and everyone’s welcome at the table.

Meet the Guest of Honor

At the center of it all sits Bilbo, Luckwearer, a Legendary Halfling Rogue whose adventure side, Burglar’s Plot, lets players swap control of two nonland permanents that share a card type. Once he’s on the battlefield, Bilbo can’t be blocked — and every point of combat damage he deals to a player triggers a draw-then-discard. It’s sneaky, it’s synergistic, and it’s exactly the kind of card that changes how a Commander pod plays out.

Naturally, a card this good deserves a proper celebration, which brings us to the heart of the event itself.

What to Expect

This isn’t a stiff, sit-in-silence tournament. It’s a party. Bring your Commander deck, pull up a chair, and dive into a morning of casual, high-energy games with other players who are just as excited about this Hobbit-flavored expansion as you are. Whether your deck is built around treasure, trickery, or straight-up chaos, there’s a seat for you.

The party kicks off at 11 AM sharp on September 19th, so arrive a little early to get settled and meet your pod. From there, it’s all fellowship, strategy, and a few well-timed burglaries.
